Type of Documentary- Mixed
Themes- Rebellion, Good vs Evil, Binary opposition, Religion vs Devil, worship, lack of communication between teens and parents, disaffected youth and problems in society, power of the Media to influence people behaviour.
Narrative Structure- Open, ultimate questions left unanswered, non-linear, single strand.

GraphicsDates and times, place names to establish locations (like the image below), name of the people and there relevance to the topic, verdict of the 3 girls, lyrics of the songs Manson was performing (like the image below), end title credits

I have added in these pictures because it shows marilyn manson and when he dressed as the pope at one of his concerts, which is juxtaposition using religious connotations

Archive material - Marilyn Manson videos, news reports, t.v coverage, newspaper pages, t.v talkshow, websites, still images and the coverage of the massacre.

Editing
Hours of stock footage edited down and matched what the boy being interviewed said about being bored and seeing men stood around.
Priest - entire interview audio and now filmed him driving, he looks tired and quiet road ahead - dramatic effect
Killing the nun - door, heart beat speeds up and slows down then stops when dead. Hitting with rock and stabbing then dog barks, breathing and whispering then church bell singly strikes at death.
Juxtaposition - Manson fans, controversial footage - religious music

Dissolved, cutting because you don't notice it as a documentaries primary purpose is the story
Fade to black to create a new passage of time

Sound- The opening of this extract from the documentary shows a reconstruction of the murder with a hearbeat sound being played in the background to convey the adrenaline the girls would of had during the time of the murder.
-One point Religious church music can be heard
-Narration, neutral voice over in standard English
-Translation,
-Actors reading the girls diarys

A interview with manson uses low angle to show him as powerful, the lighting is set up so that one side of his face is light and the other is dark this is to create an image that is Marilyn Manson a saint or a sinner, in the interview Manson sums himself up as someone who rebels against what is considered ordinary.
In another scene there is a video of Manson fans with religious music in the background suttly this is juxtaposition putting two opposites together to create meaning.

Mise en scene- Interviewees interviewed in there working environment, or there own environment, suggest they are neutral. For example Manson backstage in his changing room, and a Police officer in his office in front of his desk. Footage also anchored Italy
Camera work- Handheld camera work on actuality footage, so the camera can respond to the action
Interviews- close up and medium close up, framed to left or right of screen like the image below
Long shots, tracking shots, pans, tilted frame
Pov shots, The image below is a POV shot of the Father of one of the murderers on the train looking out through the window
Stock footage
Religious iconography
-clips of teenagers and panning of the town in general
